Testosterone Replacement Therapy

January 13, 2025/by Akira Kobayashi, MD.

Optimize Your Health with Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) at Yakima Men’s Clinic

Testosterone, the primary male sex hormone, plays a vital role in a man’s overall health, affecting everything from energy levels, sleep quality, muscle mass, mood, erectile strength, and libido. When testosterone levels are low, health suffers. At Yakima Men’s Clinic (YMC), we are committed to helping you achieve your best self through personalized care, including a comprehensive workup for Testosterone Deficiency as part of your membership.

What Is Testosterone Deficiency?

Testosterone Deficiency (TD), also known as hypogonadism, occurs when the body does not produce enough testosterone. This can lead to symptoms such as:

  • Poor sleep and fatigue
  • Depression or mood changes
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Increased body fat
  • Low libido
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Reduced bone density

How Common Is Testosterone Deficiency?

You’re not alone if you’re experiencing symptoms of low testosterone. Research shows that testosterone deficiency affects approximately 2% of younger men and up to 40% of men aged 45 and older. Rates are much higher in patients struggling with overweight or obesity, or who have sleep apnea. Despite its prevalence, many men go undiagnosed and untreated, missing out on opportunities to improve their health and quality of life.

How Do I Get Tested?

If you are a member of Yakima Men’s Clinic, I can order a blood test for you to check your testosterone.

What If My Test Results Show That My Levels Are Not Low?

If your testosterone is not low but you came to us with complaints of low mood, poor sleep, low libido, or similar symptoms, we won’t just kick you out the door. As a primary care doctor committed to holistic care, I am committed to getting to the bottom of what is affecting you and finding the best solutions for your overall health.

Why Choose Yakima Men’s Clinic for TRT?

At YMC, we take a comprehensive and personalized approach to your health. When you become a member, you are eligible for a full workup to assess for Testosterone Deficiency. This includes:

  • A detailed medical history and symptom assessment.
  • Comprehensive blood tests to measure testosterone levels and other key health indicators.
  • A personalized plan to address your needs, whether through lifestyle modifications, medical management, or Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT).

Our goal is to help you regain your natural hormone levels so that you can feel great. Because we offer comprehensive, holistic care, we won’t just put you on testosterone in a one-size-fits-all approach commonly seen in TRT clinics that are after your money. We will explore if there are natural ways to restore your testosterone without relying on medications, as TRT can be a life-long therapy. Avoiding lifelong dependence on drugs like TRT is ideal, but if you do need it, it can be life-changing.

What Are the Benefits of TRT?

TRT can offer numerous health and lifestyle benefits for men diagnosed with low testosterone, including:

  • Improved energy levels
  • Enhanced mood and mental clarity
  • Increased muscle mass and strength
  • Reduced body fat
  • Improved libido and sexual performance
  • Better sleep quality

What Makes YMC Different?

One thing we do differently at YMC is microdosing TRT and using HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). Many clinics recommend intramuscular injections every week or even every two weeks. However, this has two disadvantages:

  1. Bigger injections hurt more, and intramuscular injections hurt more than subcutaneous injections. When we microdose, we use a tiny needle that is virtually painless.
  2. Less frequent injections cause big fluctuations in serum testosterone levels, leading to mood swings and more side effects.

We recommend daily microdosing for stable blood levels, which mimics natural testosterone levels for a healthy male over the course of the day. We also recommend using HCG to maintain testicular function. This is not something all testosterone clinics do, and it sets us apart in providing comprehensive care.
